What is ORT?

Operation Rolling Thunder is based on Psalm 18:6-18 where King David cried out in prayer and the Lord thundered from heaven in response.  We are calling churches to cover our county in nonstop prayer and worship.  Our goal is to identify local churches to take a day  to pray(one day per month)  identifying people in their churches who will take “prayer shifts” to ensure round-the-clock prayer.  One Church Commits to One Day to worship/prayer each month.  It’s our heart’s desire that through ceaseless Prayer and Worship we would spread a passion for the ‘Supremacy of Christ’ in all things!  Churches that participate will pray first for their local church and second for the needs in their cities/county based on a prayer guide complied by Light of the World Prayer Center.  These prayer focus items come from our transformation teams that are helping us know how to pray effectively for the needs in Whatcom County, regarding business, education, health-care, government, media/arts and entertainment, family, and  religion(strategic missions).

Churches can organize this 24hr period of prayer as they sense the leading of the Spirit in developing a culture of prayer in their congregation.  One option is to invite 24 people to take a 1hr shift( or 48 people to take a 30 minute shift) to cover the monthly day of prayer.  They are welcome to pray during that hour in their homes, come down to the church’s prayer room, or go on a prayer walk, etc.  Another option is open up a prayer room and invite people to come pray/worship together at the church.  A prayer leader in the church can help coordinate this day, providing prayer requests from the local church and the county/state/nation.

Operation Rolling Thunder is not about us, but about a world in desperate need for His Glory and compassionate love.  It is a strategic call to respond to His invitation to ‘humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways”(2 Chron. 7:14)  May He hear our prayers, forgive our sin and heal our land!  Let it be for the Spread of His Fame, for the Extension of His Reign, for the Increase of His Gain, and for the Honor of His Claim!

I humbly invite you to join other local churches in Whatcom County as we seek God’s face and see God transform this region for His Glory!  May it be said of us, “The Lord is there”

For the Supremacy of Christ in all Things,
