"Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain." - Ps.127:1
As the Lord continues to build His house of prayer in Bellingham, we are in need of hundreds of volunteers and both full-time and part-time staff. Night and day worship with prayer is no small task. A team must staff the prayer room 24/7, 365 days per year, worshiping with music, praying, and maintaining day-to-day operations of the house of prayer as a whole.
We humbly ask that you would prayerfully consider volunteering. There are many opportunities available that fit a wide variety of giftings. Training is provided at no cost for all volunteer positions!
Our goal is a prayer room staff of 12, around the clock night and day.
The worship leader is the key leader of the worship and prayer team. They provide instruction and guidance for the team, but they must NOT be independent. The worship leader will rely heavily on the rest of their team throughout every set. One of our key values is TEAM ministry. The worship "leader" may be the officially appointed leader of worship times, but it is by no means a one-man show. The unique model of prayer and worship requires a precisely orchestrated cooperation between every member of the team.
Worship leaders are responsible for constructing two hour worship sets and providing music for their team. They also lead a briefing meeting 30 minutes prior to the start of each set, giving guidance to the team and having a time of prayer.
Requirements: Must be able to lead a team of up to 10 people well, prepare sufficiently in advance for meetings, lead team pre-meetings, and be an example for a team in leadership, encouragement, and punctuality. Must have either previous worship leading experience, or have served previously at LOWPC as a musician on a team (non-worship leader position).
The Need: One worship leader to staff the prayer room night and day, for a total of 168 worship leader hours per week.
Singers are central to the vision for night and day worship with prayer. It's through them that the Lord will release the words of a new song, bringing deliverance to our city, setting the captives free, drawing many to Jesus, and making His name famous in this land!
Singers lead the prayer room in praying the Word through song and meditating on biblical passages, as well as singing intercessory prayers. Their role in the house of prayer is more unique than on a typical worship team. There is a significant spontaneous element.
Requirements: Previous singing experience through a microphone is a plus but not required.
The Need: A minimum of three singers to staff the prayer room night and day, for a total of 504 singer hours per week.
Musicians can actually shift the spiritual atmosphere of our city by declaring God's goodness and the return of Christ through their instruments. Musicians of a wide variety of instruments play on worship teams, cooperating with one another for times of song and prayer.
Sought after instruments include but are not limited to: Electric or acoustic guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, Live techno/synth keyboard setups, violin or other string instruments, woodwinds, brass and other percussion.
Requirements: Having your own instrument and/or equipment, with the exception of drums and keyboards. Microphones, cabling, tuners, stools and stands are provided.
The Need: A minimum of four musicians to staff the prayer room night and day, for a total of 672 musician hours per week.
Prayer leaders bring the "spoken word" prayers during times of worship and prayer. They lead the house in prayer by praying the prayers of scripture for our city and the nations. In times of meditating on scripture, they read and pray through specific passages. Communicating well with the worship team is necessary.
Requirements: Love Jesus, love the Word, and have a desire to grow in both! No previous experience necessary. Training is provided.
The Need: A minimum of one prayer leader to staff the prayer room night and day, for a total of 168 prayer leader hours per week.
Playing with hundreds of knobs and sliders may be arguably one of the most fun volunteer positions, but it is also one of the more hidden. A desire for selfless service without public recognition is a must. The sound tech is a crucial part of the ministry team during each prayer time. They work with the team to make sure each person and instrument is heard correctly in the room at the right point in time, and also assure musicians on stage that they are able to hear a good mix of the team as well.
They must be able to adapt quickly to changes in the vocals and instruments, complementing the dynamic worship experience. It's extremely important for a sound tech to remain focused at all times with their eyes on the equipment and the team. If the need arises for a team member to communicate with the sound tech or an equipment malfunction takes place, they need to be able to respond with the proper solution in a moment's notice to provide an uninterrupted worship experience for all that are present.
Requirements: Excellent hearing, good technical skills, ability to learn quickly, think on your feet, and diagnose and solve technical problems quickly. Previous live mixing experience a plus. Training is provided.
The Need: One sound tech to staff the prayer room night and day, for a total of 168 sound tech hours per week.
A very important position, especially in welcoming guests. Power Pointers man the computer to display song lyrics for those in the prayer room. Making lyrics easily visible allows everyone to engage with the worship taking place.
Requirements: No previous experience necessary. Good technical skills are a plus. Training is provided.
The Need: One power pointer to staff the prayer room night and day, for a total of 168 power pointer hours per week.
In the tabernacle of David, the Lord appointed 4,000 musicians and 288 singers to give praise and worship to God. But He also appointed 4,000 as gatekeepers.
Ushers/gatekeepers keep watch on the prayer room during its operation. They are responsible for welcoming visitors and assisting them with any needs they may have, including questions or finding a seat. If any disorderly or inappropriate conduct occurs, they are responsible for dealing with it in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements: No previous experience necessary. Must have a desire to work with and help people and be good at cultivating a welcoming atmosphere in the prayer room.
The Need: A minimum of two Gatekeepers to staff the prayer room night and day, for a total of 336 Gatekeeper hours per week.
